JSOC workstation configuration is tracked in the
Workstation Tracking List,
which should be updated whenever any of the following things are changed in any of
the workstations:
Name
Location
Computer SN or TAG #
Monitor
OS Software
EGSE Version
IDL licenses
EGSE Database
SFID
Anything else of note (disk replacements, mother-board or cpuid chip replacements, etc).
There is a reminder in the JSOC Maintenance Google calendar to check that this is
updated every 3 months.
The workstations should be rebooted every 2 months. this is tracked in the JSOC
Maintenance Google Calendar.
Because workstations are occasionally rebooted for various reasons in between the
two-month markers, you should check the "uptime" when the the reboot date
rolls around and see how long all the workstations (JSOC-IOC, SDP, and MOC)
have been up.
The FOT has limits too (RDL), so when you update the EGSE limits you must alert them to do an overlay
on their RDL limits. Every once in a while they will do a database update, incorporating the overlays into the actual database.
If you try to connect to audi (for example) on the mon machine, but the cmd machine
is already connected, you will get ANS messages saying the socket died on Audi.
To avoid this, once you realize that you can't connect for telemetry,
click "ssim_tm" "disc" to tell the MON machine to stop trying to connect.
A table of what workstation should be connected to what MOC machine can be found in the
Workstation Tracking List.
If Audi or BMW goes down, we may not be notified when they come back up, so make sure to speak
with someone at the MOC and ask them to notify you when it comes back up so you can
reconnect the workstations.
