The SDO spacecraft fine Sun sensor control follows the guide telescope pointing of ATA 2 so tracking and maintaining the accuracy of the AIA pointing is important to mission science. Weekly, daily, and hourly average pointing calculations are made based on fitting of the solar limb and incorporated into the Level 1 data pipeline. Estimates of pointing recovery during eclipse season are also of interest for keeping the most accurate pointing possible.
Instructions for calculating weekly pointing updates (from LMSAL) and the AIA Master Pointing Table files are on the team site. Daily and hourly calculations are run from Stanford.
